How To Organize Your Stationery Cabinet

Are you sick of how your stationery cabinet (or any other cabinet in your home) is always messy all the time? Did you spend a few hours tidying up your stationery cabinet, only to find that it is back to being messy just a few weeks later?

Well, the reason why your stationery cabinet is perpetually messy is likely because the system and/or structure of your stationery cabinet is not optimized. For example, at the start when you are setting up your stationery cabinet, you may have organized the various stationery compartments according to your liking.

However as time goes by, you may realise that the compartments are not really catered to your needs and hence, you start placing your stuff in any empty space in your stationery cabinet. Overtime, things will start piling up in your stationery cabinet and you cant seem to keep it tidy for more than a few weeks

Good news is that it takes is to have a solid system in place and your stationery cabinet will never be messy again.

Here are 7 steps on how to organize your stationery cabinet, in an effective way, so that it is tidy all the time.

Step 1: Remove everything from the cabinet and lay it all out

First you need to remove everything from your stationery cabinet and lay it all out. Go through all the items and decide which you want to keep and which you want to throw.

Step 2: Identify the different categories to label

After you have identified which items you want to keep, it is likely that your items fall under different categories. Hence, you will now need to identify the type of categories the items fall under.

Step 3: Clean the containers that house your items

Before placing your items back into the containers, you should clean your containers. A simple way to clean your containers is to use wet wipes and then leave your containers to dry for 1-2 hours. You can even consider getting new containers if your existing containers are not optimized for your cabinet space.

Step 4: Create the label stickers

If you are not fussy, all you need for your label stickers are a permanent marker and some blank sticky strips (you can even consider using masking tape).

Step 5: Paste the label stickers on the containers

Step 6: Place the items into their respective labelled containers

It is time to place your items back into their respective containers! Try to place the items in a way that makes it easy for you to reach out for them (rather than having to remove other items in order to access the item you need).

Step 7: Place the containers back into the cabinet

It is such a great feeling to see everything organised properly. For me, it has been 6 months since I last organized my stationery cabinet as per the 7 steps stated in this article and my stationery cabinet is still very well organized.
