After so much walking around each day, your feet totally deserve some pampering. Won’t it be nice to be able to soak your feet every now and then.
Thankfully, it is not difficult to create your very own foot spa at home.
Here are the items you need for a luxurious foot spa experience at home.
1. Bucket or Foot tub
To give your feet the ultimate relaxation, you need to soak them in a foot tub or bucket that contains warm-to-hot water that is preferably filled to at least above your ankles.
To ensure that the pail can take the heat and also maintain the heat for as long as possible, get either a stainless steel or expanded polystyrene bucket.
2. Warm-to-Hot water
Did you know that our autonomic nervous system responds to warm water immersion in the same way it responds to meditation or a number of other relaxed states?
Soaking and cleansing your feet in hot water reduces inflammation and stimulates circulation, bringing congested blood to the dilated vessels in the feet and lower legs.
A warm-to-hot water foot spa helps you to ease muscle tension and rejuvenate your body (as well as your feet). Throughout the day, your body performs various physical movements that contract the muscles. Hot water can help to soothe muscles and joints, and increase the blood flow to the feet, which helps to improve your blood circulation.
3. Foot bomb or Bath salts or just some essential oils
Enhance the foot spa experience by adding good nutrients into your foot tub or bucket.
The nutrients can come in the form of a foot soak bomb, bath salts or essential oils.
The following Essential oils are great for relaxation:
- Lemongrass
- Epsom salts
- Peppermint Oil
- Eucalyptus Oil
- Tea Tree Oil
- Lavender Oil
- Chamomile Oil
- Lemongrass Oil
- Lemon Oil
4. Chair
A comfortable chair is important if you want to have the full relaxing experience while having your foot spa. An arm chair or a sofa will be the best. If you do not have an arm chair or a sofa, a study chair will be great too. To optimize the experience if you are using a study chair, get a backrest to make yourself more comfortable.
5. Botanicals
Botanicals are pretty to look at and also add a natural aroma to your foot spa. Rose petals, daisies, lavender, jasmine petals are all great botanicals to add to a foot spa.
6. Towel
You will need to have a towel nearby to dry your feet after you are done using a foot spa. For the most luxurious experience, use a soft towel that is made of either bamboo or cotton.
