DIY Coffee Station

I really wanted a coffee station in my flat – however there was no space in my kitchen for it. I also did not want to use any of the space at the dining area for my coffee station. Luckily for me, there is a blank narrow wall right outside my kitchen, and I thought that this blank narrow wall was the perfect and most practical location to house my mini coffee station.

Here are the 6 steps I took to create the coffee station that I absolutely love!

1. Have an idea of what I wanted

The space that I catered to my coffee station is limited, hence I needed to be clear about what I wanted and also get the dimensions right. First of all, I wanted a design style that matched the rest of my home. I wanted my coffee station to last as long as possible.

Luckily, my home is Japandi/Scandinavian themed and hence, it was not too difficult to find a woody shelf online. Pro tip: If you have a budget, go for a theme that suits your budgeting needs. A great interior design theme to go for when you are on a budget are Japandi, Scandinavian, Minimalist, and even mid-century modern.

2. Decided on what I want to place at the coffee station

I was already clear about what I wanted to place at my coffee station. These are the items that I wanted to fill up my coffee station with.

    1. Coffee machine
    2. Nespresso capsules
    3. coffee cups
    4. Alcoholic bottles
    5. Teabags
    6. If possible, also house my robot vacuum

3. Decided on what I was okay with

Are you okay with an open shelved coffee station? Or do you prefer everything to be closed up? For me I am okay with an open shelf, as long as the coffee station was of my desired dimensions.

4. Source for the ideal piece online

Do take the time to source for your ideal coffee station online because you will be looking at it for years to come. You do not want to get a coffee station that you cannot stand!

You can keep a lookout for your ideal coffee station on platforms like Taobao, Shopee, and even Amazon. Sometimes, you can even find cheaper items on Amazon than Taobao if you look hard enough!

When you are sourcing for your ideal coffee station piece, do take note of the reviews. To play safe, choose something that has a lot of reviews with PICTURES. Yup, it is very important to see what others (who bought the same item) received. Keep a look out for the color tone, whether there are any cracks, whether there are any bad reviews, and so on.

5. Fix up the coffee station when it arrives

Ah, my most hated task out of all the tasks in this list, but it needs to be done. Set aside a few hours to properly fix up your coffee station. If you do not want to spend the time fixing up your coffee station, you need to keep this in mind when  you are looking for your coffee station piece online.

Anyway once you have fixed up your coffee station, you can carry it over to the location where you want to place it at and start placing everything on it!

6. Figure out what else I need

Once you have assembled the coffee station in place and also placed everything on the coffee station, figure out if there is anything else you need. For me, I was still lacking containers to place my nespresso capsules in and a tray to place my coffee cups on. I quickly found some pretty little clear drawers/containers and a cute round tray from Aliexpress. I also went to get a table runner to make the coffee station look more fancy and less plain.

Another thing I got is a mini diatomite mat to house my Nespresso Coffee Machine on. It is very useful in preventing the coffee from damaging the wood below (which is not a very quality wood to begin with, hence it needs some extra care!)

Enjoy Your DIY COFFEE STATION!

Now that my coffee station is set up, it is time to enjoy brewing my coffee at my coffee station! I love that chill experience I always get as my coffee pours out of the Nespresso Machine, into my vintage little coffee mug. I find it really therapeutic and relaxing. All the best with your DIY Coffee Station!
